Milarepa

Milarepa (1040-1123), the most renowned and accomplished of Tibet’s tantric yogins, was known to have achieved enlightenment in one lifetime. Milarepa received the tradition of the Practice Lineage from Marpa Lotsawa, who underwent great hardship to bring these teachings to Tibet from India. Milarepa was Marpa’s primary dharma heir. Milarepa is most famous for his songs and poems, in which he expresses the profundity of his realization of the dharma with extraordinary clarity and beauty. Many of Milarepa’s poetic compositions have been translated into numerous other languages.
